Hawaii’s Big Island is perfect for the typical outdoor enthusiast. There are not a whole lot of big cities on this island and access to nature and beautiful scenery is easily within reach! Most visitors come to Hawaii’s Big Island for the volcanoes, but there is so much more to it, although I highly recommend spending a day at Volcanoes National Park, it was a highlight.
Exploring the island by car opens up so many opportunities. Visitors can stop at some of the waterfalls, pull off and gaze out at the beautiful ocean and dramatic coastlines, or spend time in Hilo which is where we stayed, we loved it! No trip to the Big Island is complete without a stop at Waipi’o Valley, perhaps one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen.
